What ACERA 20MG is used for?
It is used,
To treat active duodenal ulcers (ulcers in your intestine) gastric ulcer, peptic ulcer
To treat and to prevent gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)
In patients whose stomachs may contain extremely high amounts of acid, a condition called Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
In combination with appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens, to remove the bacterium Helicobacter pylori in patients with peptic ulcer disease
Driving & Using Machines
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Are allergic to ACERA 20MG, or any proton pump inhibitor or ‘substituted benzimidazoles’
Have a stomach tumor
Have ever had liver problems
Have reduced body stores or risk factors for reduced vitamin B12 and receive long term treatment with ACERA 20MG
Have risk of osteoporosis
Have ever had a skin reaction
Are due to have a specific blood test (Chromogranin A)
Avoid exposing to sun too much while taking this medicine
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
You should take ACERA 20MG once daily, preferably before breakfast
It should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid, preferably before breakfast
For duodenal ulcer and benign gastric ulcer,
The recommended dose is 20 mg daily
For gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD),
The recommended dose is 20 mg daily
For GERD maintenance treatment,
The recommended dose is 20 mg or 10 mg, depending on individual needs
For the symptomatic treatment of moderate to very serious GERD,
The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily
For the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome,
The recommended dose is 20 mg three times a day, in one dose
For the eradication of the Helicobacter pylori bacterium
The following treatment is recommended for 7 days: twice daily in combination with antibiotics clarithromycin and amoxicillin’
If you take more ACERA 20MG
If you have taken more medicine, contact your doctor immediately
If you forget to take ACERA 20MG
If you have forgotten to take a dose, take it immediately when you remember and continue the treatment as usual. If it is almost time to take the next dose, you should not take the forgotten medicine. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking ACERA 20MG
Do not stop taking ACERA 20MG just because you feel better. If you stop taking your medicine too soon, your symptoms may return
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Infections
Difficulty sleeping (insomnia), headache, dizziness
Cough, runny nose (rhinitis) or sore throat (pharyngitis)
Stomach upsets
Back pain
Weakness (asthenia) or flu-like symptoms
Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. ACERA 20MG Tablets can influence the effect of some other medicines:
Atazanavir (used to treat HIV-infection)
Ketoconazole or itraconazole (medicines used for treatment of fungal infections)
Methotrexate (a chemotherapy medicine used in high doses to treat cancer)
Storage
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
