What AMLOSURE AT is used for?
It is used to treat
high blood pressure
chest pain due to narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart muscle
uneven heart beats or heart attack
Tell your doctor, if you
are allergic to AMLOSURE AT or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
are suffering from narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis)
suffer from chest pain at rest or with minimal effort (unstable angina pectoris)
have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
have heart failure or have suffered a heart attack during the past month
have severe increase in blood pressure (Hypertensive crisis)
have liver or kidney problems
are elderly
have second- or third-degree heart block (a condition which may be treated by a pacemaker)
have very slow or uneven heart beats
have higher than normal levels of acid in your blood (metabolic acidosis)
have asthma, wheezing or any other similar breathing problems
have diabetes
have thyrotoxicosis (a condition caused by an overactive thyroid gland)
are planned for a surgery
Pregnancy & Breast Feeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Children & Adolescents
AMLOSURE AT should only be used for hypertension in children and adolescents from 6 years to 17 years of age
Driving & Using Machines
If this medicine make you feel sick, dizzy or tired do not drive or use machines and contact your doctor immediately
Always take AMLOSURE AT exactly as your doctor has told you
This medicine can be used before or after food
You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a drink of water
Do not take AMLOSURE AT with grapefruit juice.
If you take more AMLOSURE AT tablets
If you have taken too much AMLOSURE AT, contact your nearest hospital casualty department
If you forget to take AMLOSURE AT tablets
If you forget to take a tablet, leave out that dose completely
Take your next dose at the right time
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking AMLOSURE AT tablets
Consult your doctor before you stop taking this medicine
Serious
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
sudden wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
swelling of eyelids, face or lips, tongue and throat
severe skin reactions including intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over your whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes
abnormal heart beat
inflamed pancreas which may cause severe abdominal and back pain accompanied with feeling very unwell
Common
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
headache, dizziness, sleepiness (especially at the beginning of treatment)
palpitations (awareness of your heart beat), flushing
abdominal pain, nausea
altered bowel habits, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion,
tiredness, weakness
visual disturbances, double vision
muscle cramps
swollen ankles, oedema (fluid retention)
cold hands and feet
diarrhoea
nausea
Uncommon
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
enlarged breasts or discomfort in men
sleep disorders, irritability, depression
pain, feeling unwell, dry mouth, uncontrolled shaking, pins and needles, increased sweating
problems with your eye-sight (visual disturbances)
mood changes, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness
trembling, taste abnormalities
loss of pain sensation
sneezing/running nose
disorder in passing urine, increased need to urinate at night, increased number of times of passing urine
ringing or buzzing in the ears
fainting, increased heart rate, chest pain, aggravation of angina may occur at the beginning of the treatment
low blood pressure
breathing difficulties, cough
dry mouth, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, swollen gums
muscle cramps, back pain, muscle and joint pain
increased need to urinate
impotence
increase or decrease in weight
disturbed sleep
Rare
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
confusion
heart block (which can cause dizziness, abnormal heart beat, tiredness or fainting)
numbness and spasm in your fingers which is followed by warmth and pain
mood changes
feeling confused
changes in personality (psychoses) or hallucinations
headache, dizziness (particularly when standing up)
being unable to get an erection (impotence)
dry mouth, dry eyes
disturbances of vision
thinning of your hair
skin rash
purplish marks on your skin
jaundice (causing yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes)
Very Rare
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
decrease in blood platelets which may result in unusual bruising or easy bleeding
excess sugar in blood (hyperglycaemia)
a disorder of the nerves which can cause weakness, tingling or numbness
swelling of the gums
abdominal bloating (gastritis)
abnormal liver function, inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), yellowing of the skin (jaundice), liver enzyme increase which may have an effect on some medical tests
increased muscle tension
inflammation of blood vessels, often with skin rash
sensitivity to light
disorders combining rigidity, tremor or movement disorders
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Verapamil, diltiazem ,medicines used to treat hypertension
Ketoconazole and itraconazole used to treat fungal infections
Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Nevirapine used to treat viral infections
Clarithromycin, Erythromycin, Rifampicin used to treat infections
Medicines to treat depression
John’s wort,herbal medicine for depression
Corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as Dexamethasone
Dantrolene
Medicine used to alter the way your immune system works such as tacrolimus
Simvastatin, used as cholesterol lowering medicine
Cyclosporine, used as an immunosuppressant
Medicines for epilepsy such as Phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine
Sildenafil, medicine for impotence
Disopyramide, quinidine or amiodarone to treat uneven heart beat
Digoxin for heart problems
Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine a medicine that stimulates the heart
Ibuprofen or indomethacin for pain and inflammation
Insulin or oral medicines for diabetes
Medicines to treat nose or sinus congestion or other cold remedies
Storage
Keep out of reach of children
Do not use your tablets after the expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
