What CARDACE 1.25MG is used for?
It is used to,
Treat high blood pressure
Prevent the risk of having a heart attack, myocardial infarction or stroke or heart failure
Prevent the risk of worsening of kidney problems
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Are allergic to Ramipril or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Are undergoing dialysis
Have diabetes or impaired kidney function
Are dehydrated
Are undergoing surgery
High amounts of potassium in your blood
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Take this medicine by mouth at the same time of the day each day
Swallow the medicine whole with little amount of water
It may be taken with or without food
The usual starting dose is 1.25 mg or 2.5 mg once daily
Your doctor will adjust the amount you take until your blood pressure is controlled
The maximum dose is 10 mg once daily
To reduce the risk of you having a heart attack or stroke
The usual starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily
The usual dose is 10 mg once daily
Treatment to reduce or delay the worsening of kidney problems
You may be started on a dose of 1.25 mg or 2.5 mg once daily.
The usual dose is 5 mg or 10 mg once daily
Treatment after you have had a heart attack or heart failure
The usual starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily to 2.5 mg twice daily
The usual dose is 10 mg daily
Two administrations per day are preferable
If you take more CARDACE 1.25MG
If you take more CARDACE 1.25MG than you should consult your doctor or go to the nearest hospital straight away
If you forget to take CARDACE 1.25MG
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet
If you stop using CARDACE 1.25MG
Do not stop taking this medicine before consulting the doctor
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Swelling of the face, lips or throat
Severe skin allergy
Fast heart rate
Bleeding
Pancreatitis
Liver problems
Headache or dizziness
Stomach upsets
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines,
Ibuprofen or Indomethacin used to relieve pain
Medicines used for the treatment of low blood pressure, shock, cardiac failure
Medicines for cancer (chemotherapy)
Medicines to stop the rejection of organs after a transplant such as Ciclosporin
Medicines which can increase the amount of potassium in your blood such as spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride, potassium salts, trimethoprim alone or in combination with sulfamethoxazole (for infections) and heparin (for thinning blood)
Steroid medicines for inflammation such as Prednisolone
Allopurinol (used to lower the uric acid in your blood)
Procainamide (for heart rhythm problems)
Racecadotril (used against diarrhoea)
Medicines for diabetes such as oral glucose lowering medicines and insulin
Lithium (for mental health problems)
Storage
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25ÂșC)
