It is used to treat depression
Talk to your doctor before taking DESSTAR XR 50MG, if you:
Are allergic to desvenlafaxine, venlafaxine or any of the ingredients in this medicine
Have high blood pressure
Have heart problems, kidney problems or liver problems
Have high cholesterol or high triglycerides
Have a history of a stroke
Have or had depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior
Have or had bleeding problems
Have or had seizures or convulsions
Have mania or bipolar disorder
Have low sodium levels in your blood
Are alcoholic
It can pass into your breast milk and may harm your baby
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or breast feeding, ask your doctor before taking this medicine
Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you
Take the medicine exactly as your healthcare provider has told you
It may be taken either with or without food
Swallow the medicine whole, with water
Do not crush, cut, chew the medicine
When you take this medicine, you may see something in your stool that looks like a tablet. This is the empty shell from the tablet after the medicine has been absorbed by your body.
If you take more of DESSTAR XR 50MG
Do not take more medicine than prescribed by your healthcare provider. If you take more, than the amount prescribed, contact your healthcare provider right away
If you forget to take DESSTAR XR 50MG
If you miss a dose of the medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not try to “make up” for the missed dose by taking two doses at the same time
If you stop taking DESSTAR XR 50MG
Do not stop taking or change the dose of the medicine without talking with your healthcare provider, even if you feel better
Like all medicines, the medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Serious mental illnesses, and suicidal thoughts or actions
Serotonin syndrome
Restlessness
Increase in blood pressure
Hallucinations (seeing and hearing things that are not real)
Loss of coordination, coma
Fast heart beat
Increased body temperature
Muscle stiffness
New or worsened high blood pressure (hypertension)
Abnormal bleeding or bruising.
Eye pain, changes in vision and swelling or redness in or around the eye
Abnormal dreams and confusion
Headache
Diarrhea and vomiting
Seizures (convulsions)
Low sodium levels in your blood
Lung problems
Nausea, dizziness
Loss of appetite
Sleeping problems (insomnia) or anxiety
Sweating
Decreased sex drive
Constipation
Delayed orgasm and ejaculation
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Amphetamines
Medicines to treat migraine headaches known as triptans
Medicines used to treat mood, anxiety, psychotic, or thought disorders, including tricyclics, lithium, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), or other dopamine antagonists, such as metoclopramide
Silbutramine, tramadol
St.John’s Wort
MAOIs (including linezolid, an antibiotic and intravenous methylene blue)
Tryptophan supplements
Other medicines containing venlafaxine or desvenlafaxine
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date
Keep all medicines out of the reach of children
