What is NICOSTAR 48MG?
NICOSTAR 48MG contains Nicorandil which belongs to a group of medicines called ‘potassium channel activators
What NICOSTAR 48MG is used for?
NICOSTAR 48MG is used to prevent or reduce painful signs (“angina pectoris”) of your heart disease and is used in adults who cannot take heart medicines called “beta-blockers” or “calcium antagonists”
It works by increasing the blood flow through the blood vessels of the heart
It improves the blood and oxygen supply of your heart muscle and reduces its workload
Talk to Doctor
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
are allergic to Nicorandil or any other ingredients of its medicine
have severe low blood pressure (“hypotension”)
have heart problems such as cardiogenic shock, or left ventricular failure
have low blood volume
have a build-up of fluid in the lungs (“pulmonary oedema”)
have kidney problems or are taking other medicines that may increase potassium levels
have heart problems such as heart failure
have a genetic condition called “glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency”
Pregnancy & Breast Feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Children & Adolescents
NICOSTAR 48MG is not recommended for use in children
Driving & Using Machines
NICOSTAR 48MG may make you feel dizzy or weak. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machine
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Your doctor will give you the dose required by you
Serious
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
red, itchy, swollen or watery eyes, including problems with a part of the eye called the ‘cornea’
ulcers in your mouth, stomach, guts (small and large) or back passage
Common
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
headache
feeling dizzy
flushing of the skin
nausea, vomiting
feeling weak
very fast, uneven or forceful heart-beat (palpitations)
Uncommon
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
low blood pressure

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
rash, itching
aching muscles not caused by exercise
Very Rare
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
stomach ache
high potassium levels in the blood
yellowing of the skin and eyes, light coloured bowel motions, dark coloured urine
swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause problems swallowing or breathing double vision
Tell your doctor, if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines orally or through intravenous route.

Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
Do not freeze
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
