Betaxolol is used to treat raised pressure of eye (intraocular pressure) which occurs in various conditions including glaucoma and ocular hypertension (high pressure in the eye) by reducing the fluid pressure in your eye(s)
Talk to your Doctor if you:
Are allergic to any other ingredients of this medicine
Wear contact lenses
Have or have had in past respiratory problems such as severe asthma, severe chronic obstructive bronchitis (severe lung condition which may cause wheeziness, difficulty in breathing and/or long-standing cough)
Have a slow heart beat, heart failure or disorders of heart rhythm (irregular heart beats)
Have any infections of the eye
Are suffering from muscle weakness disease, condition called myasthenia gravis. Your symptoms may get worse
Have diabetes, as betaxolol may mask signs and symptoms of low blood sugar
Have overactive thyroid gland as betaxolol may mask the signs and symptoms
Dry eyes (Sicca Syndrome)
Are planned for surgery
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Gently pull the lower eyelid down until there is a small pocket
Apply one or two drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye every 4 to 6 hours
Instructions for use:
First wash your hands
Avoid touching the eye (or any other surface) with the tip of the bottle
If you wear soft contact lenses, they should be removed before using the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting
Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling
Pull the lower eyelid gently downwards
Hold the bottle upside down above the eye and gently squeeze the bottle to release a drop into your eye
After using, press a finger into the corner of your eye, by the nose for 2 minutes. This helps to stop medicine getting into the rest of the body
Repeat for the other eye if necessary
Replace and tighten the cap immediately after use
Be careful not to touch the tip of the bottle on your eye or on any other surface. Ocular solutions, if handled wrongly, can become contaminated by common bacteria and cause eye infections
If you do develop any other eye condition whilst using this product, see your doctor immediately
If you take more OCUBETA
If you accidentally add too many drops to the eye, it may be flushed from the eye(s) with warm water
It can be washed out of your eye with warm water, or contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital casualty department immediately
Overdose:
There is no experience of an overdosage with this medicine which is unlikely when given as eyedrops. The signs of overdosage include slow heart rate, drop of blood pressure, breathing difficulties, and heart attack
If you forget to take OCUBETA
Apply the drops as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop using OCUBETA
Do not stop using without advice from your doctor
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Allergic Reaction: inflamed or itchy skin, swelling or redness of the skin or hives (urticaria)
Dryness of the eye, swelling or redness of the eyelid, tearing or eye discharge, or eye pain
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Any other eye drops or eye ointment
Other eye drops for the treatment of glaucoma
Medicines to lower blood pressure
A calcium antagonist (e.g. verapamil or diltiazem) often used to treat high blood pressure, angina, or an abnormal heartbeat
Digoxin used to treat heart failure or an abnormal heartbeat
Quinidine, a medicine often used to treat abnormal heartbeat
Other beta-blockers (e.g. other preparations of Betaxolol both oral and/or ocular), which belong to the same group of medicines
Medicines to treat emotional, behavioural or mental disorders such as anxiety or depression
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
