What ANDIAL 2MG is used for?
It can be used for the treatment of,
Sudden, short-lived (acute) diarrhoea in adults and children over 12 years of age
Diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), in adults aged 18 years and over
Talk to your Doctor, if you:
Are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Have a medical condition that causes you to suffer from constipation (reduced frequency of bowel movements) such as a blockage in your intestines or where constipation may cause a problem
Suffer from an inflamed intestine or inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease)
Have abdominal pain, inflammation or diarrhoea is caused by bacteria such as Salmonella, Shigella or Campylobacter
Have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics
Suffer from liver problems
Are aged 40 or over
Have recently passed blood from the bowel
Have difficulty or pain passing urine
Have recently travelled abroad
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Swallow the medicine whole (do not chew) with some water
It is important to drink more fluids than you normally would during treatment with this medicine to replace the fluids and salts lost
If you take more ANDIAL 2MG
If you have taken too much medicine than your prescribed dose, contact your doctor or go to nearest hospital immediately
Symptoms of overdose: increased and irregular heartbeat, changes to your heartbeat, muscle stiffness, uncoordinated movements, drowsiness, difficulty urinating, or weak breathing constipation, sleepiness or slower breathing
If you forget to take ANDIAL 2MG
If you forget to take a dose, take the next dose as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking ANDIAL 2MG
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so
Headache
Constipation, nausea, vomiting
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Quinidine (used to treat abnormal heart rhythms or malaria)
Ritonavir (used to treat HIV)
Drugs used to treat fungal infections
Gemfibrozil (helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood)
Desmopressin (used to treat excessive urination)
Medicine being taken for any condition affecting your stomach
Storage
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
