What ASOMEX is used for?
It is used to treat
High blood pressure
Chest pain due to narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart muscle
Uneven heart beats or heart attack
Tell your doctor, if you
Are allergic to ASOMEX or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Are suffering from narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis)
Suffer from chest pain at rest or with minimal effort (unstable angina pectoris)
Have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
Have heart failure or have suffered a heart attack during the past month
Have severe increase in blood pressure (Hypertensive crisis)
Have liver or kidney problems
Are elderly
Have second- or third-degree heart block (a condition which may be treated by a pacemaker)
Have very slow or uneven heart beats
Have higher than normal levels of acid in your blood (metabolic acidosis)
Have asthma, wheezing or any other similar breathing problems
Have diabetes
Have thyrotoxicosis (a condition caused by an overactive thyroid gland)
Are planned for a surgery
Always take ASOMEX exactly as your doctor has told you
This medicine can be used before or after food
You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a drink of water
Do not take ASOMEX with grapefruit juice.
If you take more ASOMEX tablets
If you have taken too much ASOMEX, contact your nearest hospital casualty department
If you forget to take ASOMEX tablets
If you forget to take a tablet, leave out that dose completely
Take your next dose at the right time
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking ASOMEX tablets
Consult your doctor before you stop taking this medicine
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them
Sudden wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
Swelling of eyelids, face or lips, tongue and throat
Severe skin reactions including intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over your whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes
Abnormal heart beat
Inflamed pancreas which may cause severe abdominal and back pain accompanied with feeling very unwell
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Verapamil, diltiazem ,medicines used to treat hypertension
Ketoconazole and itraconazole used to treat fungal infections
Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Nevirapine used to treat viral infections
Clarithromycin, Erythromycin, Rifampicin used to treat infections
Medicines to treat depression
John’s wort,herbal medicine for depression
Corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as Dexamethasone
Dantrolene
Medicine used to alter the way your immune system works such as tacrolimus
Simvastatin, used as cholesterol lowering medicine
Cyclosporine, used as an immunosuppressant
Medicines for epilepsy such as Phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine
Sildenafil, medicine for impotence
Disopyramide, quinidine or amiodarone to treat uneven heart beat
Digoxin for heart problems
Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine a medicine that stimulates the heart
Ibuprofen or indomethacin for pain and inflammation
Insulin or oral medicines for diabetes
Medicines to treat nose or sinus congestion or other cold remedies
Storage
Keep out of reach of children
Do not use your tablets after the expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
