What is MONOTRATE SR 30MG?
MONOTRATE SR 30MG contains Isosorbide Mononitrate
It works by widening the blood vessels in your heart to allow an increased amount of blood to flow to areas which need it
What MONOTRATE SR 30MG is used for?
It is used to prevent angina pectoris
Angina usually feels like a tight pain in the chest, neck or arm area. The pain comes from the heart muscle and is a sign that part of it is not getting enough oxygen for work it is doing
Talk to Doctor
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
are allergic to Isosorbide mononitrate, other nitrates or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
suffer from severe anemia (reduction in red blood cells which can make the skin pale and cause weakness or breathlessness)
have had a heart attack (myocardial infarction)
have had a brain hemorrhage (bleeding)
have had a head injury (trauma)
have severely low blood volume (hypovolemia)
have severely low blood pressure
are suffering from “shock” or vascular collapse
have an eye disease called glaucoma
have been diagnosed with any of the following heart conditions: hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM), con-strictive pericarditis, cardiac tamponade
have Valve stenosis and diseases associated with raised intra-cranial (head) pressure
have an underactive thyroid gland
are malnourished (severely underfed)
have liver or kidney disease
suffer from hypothermia (a very low body temperature)
have slower than normal bowel movement
drink lots of alcohol
Pregnancy & Breast Feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Children & Adolescents
MONOTRATE SR 30MG is not suitable for children
Driving & Using Machines
MONOTRATE SR 30MG may give you a headache, blurred vision or make you feel dizzy or tired. If this happens to you, do not drive or operate machinery
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Swallow the medicine whole with a drink of water
If you take more MONOTRATE SR 30MG
If you take more, immediately contact the nearest hospital casualty department or your doctor
If you forget to take MONOTRATE SR 30MG
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Take your next dose at the usual time
If you stop taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG
Do not stop taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG without first talking to your doctor. You should keep taking your medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. If you stop taking the medicine your condition may get worse

Tell your doctor if you are taking,
sildenafil used for impotence
riociguat, used in treating pulmonary hypertension
medicines to lower your blood pressure
monoamine oxidase inhibitors (used to treat depression)
tricyclic antidepressants (used to treat depression) and neuroleptics (used to treat anxiety)
ergotamine used for migraine
sapropterin used for phenylketonuria (PKU)
Storage
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
