What RESTASIS 0.05% is used for?
It is used to,
Prevent rejection of transplanted organs
Treat autoimmune diseases in which your body’s immune response attacks your body’s own cells
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Are allergic to cyclosporin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Have any signs of infection, such as fever or a sore throat
Have liver or kidney problems
Have low levels of magnesium in your body
Have high levels of potassium in your blood
Suffer from gout
Need to have a vaccination
Have any type of cancer
Are elderly
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
The dose of this medicine will be carefully adjusted by your doctor based on your age and disease condition
If you take more RESTASIS 0.05%
If you accidentally take too much of your medicine, tell your doctor immediately or go to your nearest hospital
If you forget to take RESTASIS 0.05%
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking RESTASIS 0.05%
Do not stop taking RESTASIS 0.05% unless your doctor tells you to stop
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Fever or sore throat
Changes in your sight, loss of coordination, being clumsy, memory loss, difficulty speaking or understanding and muscle weakness
Brain problems such as seizures, confusion, feeling disorientated, being less responsive, personality changes, feeling agitated, sleeplessness, changes to your sight, blindness, coma, paralysis of part or all the body, stiff neck, loss of coordination with or without unusual speech or eye movements
Worsening of liver or kidney problems
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines :
Medicines which contain potassium, potassium supplements, diuretics
Methotrexate used to treat tumors, severe psoriasis and severe rheumatoid arthritis
Erythromycin or azithromycin, medicines used to treat infections
Voriconazole, itraconazole, medicine used to treat fungal infections
Diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil, amiodarone, bosentan and aliskiren, medicine used to treat high blood pressure
Metoclopramide, oral contraceptives, danazol, medicine used to treat menstrual problems
Allopurinol, medicine used to treat gout
Cholic acid and derivatives (used to treat gallstones)
Protease inhibitors used to treat HIV
Imatinib used to treat leukaemia or tumours
Colchicine, telaprevir used to treat hepatitis C
Orlistat, medicine used to help weight loss
Herbal medicines containing St. John’s wort, ticlopidine (used after a stroke)
Melphalan, etoposide, medicine used to treat cancers
Nifedipine during your treatment with ciclosporin
Digoxin (used to treat heart problems)
HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors also called statins, medicines which lower cholesterol
Repaglinide, medicine used to treat diabetes
Dabigatran etexilate (used to avoid blood clots after surgery)
Storage
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
